Bread And A Bag Of Rocks

A couple days ago my wife Laurie ask me to go to the store for a loaf of bread. A while later I returned with a bag of rocks. Needless to say my turkey sandwich was a bit tough to swallow. You know that I am joking but Jesus used a similar illustration.

In Matthew 7: 9 – 11 Jesus said, “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”  Our heavenly Father loves us and loves to bless us so, ask.

What is on your heart? Ask. Do you need guidance? Ask. Do you need encouragement? Ask. Do you need provision? Ask. Whatever the need, ask. Our Father gives good gifts so, ask. He may answer our prayers differently than we imagined. If He does, that’s because His ways are best. So, ask.

This Sunday we will study Matthew 7:7-12. I encourage you to read these verses ahead of time and mediate on how they apply to your life.
