Sharing the light and love of Christ on October 31st.

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther declared that “The just shall live by faith” from Habakkuk 2:4. Luther didn’t want people living in fear but living in faith of God’s wonderful grace to us in Christ. It is His grace alone that saves us.

On the other hand, we shouldn’t be naive about Satan. Jesus told us the devil is real and wants to deceive and destroy us. The way to overcome Satan is to live in the light of God’s saving grace.

Habakkuk 2:4 is quoted three times in the New Testament. See if you can discover where and how this verse is used. We will discuss this verse this coming Sunday.

In the meantime, what can you do to share the gospel of Christ on October 31?
  1. Join me in prayer for our Fall outreach tonight; “A Night in the Light”.
  2. Drop off some candy for us to use…we can still use a little more.
  3. If you aren’t doing anything, come and join the fun and help us as we play games and share the gospel of Jesus with children and families.
  4. If you stay home, why not hand out children’s gospel tracts along with candy to the children that come to your door? You can purchase these at the Parable Book store here in town.
Our goal is to share the light and love of Christ.

Answers for Life are found in the Light, not the Darkness

Deuteronomy 18:10  "...And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft."

Leviticus 19:26  “... You must not practice divination or sorcery.”

Leviticus 19:31  "You must not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out, or you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.”

Our loving Heavenly Father can’t be more clear on this topic. If we are to find the answers we need for life we will find them in Him, not in darkness. When King Saul was in a bind he grew impatient and disobeyed God’s command by seeking out a medium.

I Samuel 28:7  “Saul then said to his advisers, “Find a woman who is a medium, so I can go and ask her what to do.”

Saul’s plan failed and it cost him and his son’s their lives.

When we look to witchcraft, sorcery, a medium, or something similar for life’s answers, we are doing three things:
  1. We are saying; “Lord I don’t trust you to give me the guidance I need for life.”
  2. We are looking to the counterfeit for truth. Satan is the father of lies. You will never find the truth in any of his ways.
  3. We are rebelling against God.
Your Heavenly Father loves you with an everlasting love. Look to Him in prayer, His word (the Bible), and His people (the church) for guidance for life. He has also given us the Holy Spirit to be our counselor. You don't need "other spirits" to be your guide when you already have the Holy Spirit and His promises as your guide.

Psalm 32:8 says “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.”

It is an honor to serve as your pastor. Join me in prayer for this weekend’s services. Also, invite someone to come and worship with us.

God bless you!

The Best Part

The Folgers coffee jingle says “the best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup.” I like that happy jingle. Many others identify with it too, because it has helped Folgers sell a lot of coffee.

Luke 10:38 – 42 records a visit Jesus made to Mary and Martha. Mary found “the best part” of life and Jesus said it would not be taken from her. Read about it from several different translations below.

King James Bible
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

English Standard Version
But one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.

New Living Translation
There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.

Contemporary English Version
But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen what is best, and it will not be taken away from her.

What was the best part? Just being with Jesus. Folgers coffee helps wake us up to a brand new day physically. Being with Jesus awakens us to a brand new life. Or, you could say “The best part of life.” Why? Because He is life and we must find our life in him.

Make time for “The best part” in your daily life.

A Nation Needing A Revival

Would you agree that our Nation could use a Revival of turning to the Lord?

II Chronicles 7:14 says “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” What a wonderful promise from God.

In this verse God gives four conditions to bring revival to any nation or people. This Sunday we will study these four conditions for revival.

Sunday evening at 6:00 pm we will have a special prayer service for our country and the upcoming elections.

Let the Lord renew you and bring revival to you and your family.

Enjoy Life

This Sunday we will study the fact that “We Have a Bright Future in Jesus."

In John 10:10 Jesus said “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). (AMP)

Are you “enjoying” your life? Jesus wants you to. The key is to receive Him as your Savior and follow Him as your Lord. In John 15 Jesus invites us to “abide or live” in Him. He is the Creator of life. In order to enjoy life we must find it in Him.

Join me in prayer for this weekend’s services and invite someone to come and worship the Lord with us. It is an honor to serve as your Pastor.
